We are pleased to share the “Toolkit for Higher Education Institutions in the Case of Students Raising Children”, developed by the National Association of Large Families in Hungary. This practical resource is designed to support universities in developing more inclusive policies and measures for students who are also parents.
The toolkit is available here.
It provides practical recommendations and examples of good practice to help higher education institutions better respond to the needs of student parents—an often overlooked group that faces significant challenges in accessing, participating in, and successfully completing higher education.
The importance of supporting student parents has also recently been highlighted by the European Economic and Social Committee:
We kindly invite your association to:
- Share the toolkit with universities and other relevant higher education stakeholders in your country.
- Encourage higher education institutions to make use of its recommendations.
- Consider translating the toolkit into your national language to facilitate its dissemination and implementation. If your association is interested in preparing a translation, please let us know so that we can coordinate the process and avoid duplicate work.
By working together, we can help ensure that student parents receive the recognition and support they need to thrive in higher education.
